Ginzburg Centennial Conference on Physics will be held May 29-June 3, 2017 in Moscow
SCHEDULE INFORMATION:
The preliminary schedule of the scientific program will be available at the conference site soon.
We will inform you with a letter when the program is ready - which we expect to be by May, 22.
If you have not done so, please provide the Title and Abstract of your talk urgently.
YOUR PRESENTATION AT THE CONFERENCE:
We strongly recommend using pdf for presentation as the most universal format. Almost all software allows export to pdf.
If you do have some special features in your presentation which cannot be converted to pdf, the best solution would be
to use your own equipment (notebook; if using a MacBook, please do not forget the VGA adapter).
For example, we cannot guarantee the proper look of Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt) presentations due to inconsistencies between versions and
the "lack of font" problems.
We also strongly suggest that you upload your presentation file to your Personal conference account (in the Talk information block).
This would allow avoiding unexpected problems "just before the session."
If you have ANIMATION/MOVIES in your presentation, please write a comment after uploading (for example "slides 2 and 5
have animation"), because in this case we would need to check if we have the appropriate video codec installed.
REGISTRATION:
Registration desks will be open in the Lebedev Institute (near the Main Conference Hall)
May 28 8:30 to 9:15 and May 29 8:30 to 9:00.
In the case of late arrival, you can register during coffee breaks at the Organizing Committee desk at the Lebedev Institute.
IMPORTANT: To make you a pass for a week, we should get your portrait photo.
Please upload it on your Personal Account page (there is a special button at the top of the page).
ARRIVAL:
The logistics of travel from and to the airport has become relatively simple.
You have two main options: taking a taxi or traveling with the Aeroexpress (nonstop trains to the city centre) and
then by the Metro (underground).
Please note that Moscow traffic can be heavy, and if you travel to or from the airport by car, you need to allow for 1 to 2
hours to Domodedovo and 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. The taxi will cost cheaper
(not more than $30, usually even cheaper) if you have a possibility to order it online at
https://taxi.yandex.com or
http://moscow.rutaxi.ru/en/
the official airport taxi prices can be up to $50. Please remember that the payment has to be in rubles cash.
(The tips are typically reduced to a minimum quite close to zero.)
As regards the Aeroexpress option: you follow the signs from the Arrivals to Trains; the train costs about $7, with
the tickets available at terminals near the Aeroexpress platform entrance or via ticket offices online. VISA/MasterCard are accepted.
The Aeroexpress from Sheremetyevo will bring you to the Belorusskaya Metro station; from Domodedovo, to the Paveletskaya Metro
station; and from Vnukovo, to the Kievskaya Metro station.
You can find some useful schemes on the Aeroexpress site:
https://aeroexpress.ru/en/sheremetyevo/scheme.html
https://aeroexpress.ru/en/domodedovo/scheme.html
https://aeroexpress.ru/en/vnukovo/scheme.html
Aeroexpress trains run from 6 AM to midnight, the metro is open from about 6 AM until 1 AM.
Metro stations are also friendly to foreigners, although not all of the Metro lines have the English voiceover.
All Metro stations have terminals where you can buy a ticket for 1 or 3 journeys by metro or equivalently by ground
transportation, but we recommend purchasing the "Troika" card (available in every Metro ticket window),
which can be refilled in every Metro terminal, including with your bank card. Paying for the Troika card includes
the reimbursable RR 50 for the card and the amount you choose; a single trip will cost you RR 35.

if you have not done this yet.

In the unlikely event of unexpected changes, it would be helpful for the Organizers to know your TRAVEL MOBILE number.
You may wish to indicate it in your personal account [UpdateContactInfo] or by sending a mail.
AT THE BORDER CONTROLS:
If you enter Russia with a tourist visa, you are supposed to mention TOURISM as the purpose of your visit when asked at the
border control (the same advice is applicable to those coming from the countries that have a visa-free regime with Russia.)
Please do not forget to keep a printed copy of the "tourist invitation" available, to be shown on request.
